Guess what! I’m gonna shoot the shit about shit!
I mean someone’s got to eventually do it. Despite the fact that we all drop the kids off at the pool, it’s one of the most avoided topics even with your doctor. I think it’s about time we change that. Our bowel movements can tell us so much about our digestion and our health.
The next time you are taking care of “duties” I suggest you look down into that bowl. Taking a look at how your poop looks, smells and shaped can indicate many things such as how well you are digesting your food.
What does a healthy bowel movement look like?
The number of times an individual poops per day varies. On average normal bowel movement per day should roughly be around 2-3 times. However, if you're going more than 4 times a day or 3-4 times per week, you should consult a health care practitioner.
What a healthy bowel movement should look like?
Shape: The shape of your stool should look like the letter ‘S’ or a ‘C’. It should not look like rabbit poop.
Colour: A shade of medium brown color is a sign of a healthy stool, it should not be a shade of white or grey. A sign of an infection or inflammation is if you have a yellow stool. Blood in your stool could be the result of hemorrhoids. If you see bright red blood in your stool this can be due too much pressure while pooping, however, if you see dark red blood this indicates that the blood has come from your gut. If you are experiencing something similar make sure to see a doctor.
Texture: If your poop is healthy then it should be smooth yet well formed. Hard, dry, and rabbit looking poop indicates constipation. A watery and loose stool is a sign of diarrhea. If your poop is floating on top of the water or foul smelling, this could be due to you not digesting the fats you are consuming.
Type 3 and 4 are considered normal bowel movements!
