If I were to ask a random person right now to look in the mirror, he/she would point out a physical feature that they didn’t like before they would recognize all the beautiful features they do have. They would start off by saying one thing they don’t like, but would soon pick up momentum to list off many more, because they've built such strong negative thought patterns. Most of the time it’s a negative thought pattern about weight, whether it’s about being too small or too big. That’s what I’m here to talk to you about today.
Our bodies are continually vibrating a specific vibration throughout the day. Depending on your thoughts, your body will keep fluctuating that vibration. When our bodies are vibrating at a high vibration (a vibration of joy, love, happiness), it’s functioning at its optimal vibration, which means it’s metabolizing things, absorbing more and everything in the body is going to flow better!
Now, when we lower that vibration (a vibration of self-hate, worry, doubt, fear), we are preventing the body from working at its optimal level. We slow down absorption, metabolism and we tend to feel more tired, irritated, and of course, this can lead to weight gain. Pause for a moment and think about what kind of vibration you’re in right now. Now think about what kind of vibration you are in when you look in the mirror. Do you point out things that you love about yourself, or do you see the things you want to change first? Noticing what your vibration is critical. If you’re in a lower vibration we want to raise that vibration, so you feel love, joy, and happiness. A place where you’re at peace with yourself, and you’re doing things because it makes YOU feel good and this is how you do it.
1) LIGHT your soul on fire
Do something every single day that you LOVE to do. Do that thing that cancels out everything that brought out a negative thought during the day- whether that’s dancing in your underwear after work, drawing, building something or even singing on the top of your lungs. Do that thing. You don’t have to be good at it; you just have to love it. People tend to be stuck in a pattern of going home after work and turning on the TV, scrolling through social media, or anything else they can do to distract themselves. Yes, I know it can be hard to pull yourself to do that “thing,” but I challenge you to do it anyway. Once you start, it won’t be hard to continue. I promise.
2) LOVE all that your body does for you
We are all made to look a different way, and that is beautiful. Instead of looking in the mirror and picking out things you don’t like about your body or if you’re having the trouble of thinking about things you like about your body, take a moment and appreciate all it does for you. For example: “I hate my thighs” – stop yourself at that moment and love what your thighs do for you. Your thighs allow you to get out of bed in the morning, dance with people you love, get you where you need to go, and because of that, they are perfect EXACTLY how they are right now.
3) ENJOY the food you eat
So many of us have an unhealthy relationship with food. Some don’t eat or overeat. Some continue to strive to find that “perfect” diet that we can stick to. Some listen to endless podcasts, read numerous books on what type of foods to eat to get that body image they’re so set on having. What if I told you that you were never going to find long-term success, happiness or stability in any of that? I see people all the time that eat salads three times a day, and here’s what I ask them. I ask them “are they eating that because they enjoy it or are they eating that because it’s “healthy”?” Now I’m not telling you only to eat fast food because it tastes good, that’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m telling you to forget about what you “should” eat and eat the whole foods that you are drawn to. Eat the fruits and vegetables that pop out to you because of their colour, smell, and taste. ENJOY those foods. Your body allows you to do everything you love to do in life, so honour it and fuel it with whole foods that you ENJOY. If you want a donut that day, then eat the damn donut and don’t feel guilty about it. Remember what I said earlier, as soon as we start feeling guilty we are lowering our vibration. We are storing the food in the body because it’s not metabolizing correctly. Instead, we could eat that donut, enjoy it and let it move through the body the way it wants to.
If there is one thing, I want you to remember it’s RAISE your vibration, ENJOY life and LOVE yourself.
